National Black Girl Mental Health Week (NBGMHW) emerged as a beacon of empowerment and advocacy, rooted in the vision and dedication of Black Girls On The Go® (BGOTG) /Black Girl Travel Movement™ (BGTM). Recognizing the systemic barriers and cultural stigmas hindering Black women and girls' access to mental health support, NBGMHW was founded to create a platform for dialogue, education, and action. Our story is one of resilience, solidarity, and collective action, as we strive to uplift and empower the mental well-being of Black women and girls worldwide.
Founded by BGOTG/BGTM, NBGMHW was born from a profound recognition of the intersectionality of identities within the Black community and the urgent need for advocacy and support. With a deep commitment to creating meaningful change, we embarked on a mission to dismantle barriers, challenge stereotypes, and promote mental health equity and empowerment for Black women and girls. NBGMHW stands as a testament to the power of community, collaboration, and resilience in the pursuit of mental well-being.
At NBGMHW, our mission is to empower, uplift, and advocate for the mental health and well-being of Black women and girls worldwide. We are committed to fostering understanding, amplifying voices, and catalyzing change in the pursuit of mental well-being for all Black women and girls. Through education, advocacy, and community-building, we strive to break down barriers, challenge stigma, and promote a culture of compassion, understanding, and empowerment within the Black community and beyond.
Our vision is a future where every Black woman and girl feels seen, heard, and valued, and where access to quality mental health support and resources is equitable and inclusive. We envision a world where mental health equity is a reality, and where every Black woman and girl has the resources, support, and opportunities she needs to thrive mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. Our vision guides us as we work towards creating a future where mental well-being is a priority for all.
